Live Performances

As of now, I have been in two different bands for around two and a half years. In that time, I have performed over 30 live shows. Performing is definitely one of my favorite parts of being a musician, because I really feel as if I can convey my emotions and the story I want to tell to the audience. I love playing with other bands and feeding off of their energy and creativity, as well as feeding off of the energy from the audience. In this section, I decided to highlight five of my favorite shows I have played.

First Callejera House Show

The first show Callejera played together as a band was in our drummer Armando's garage. We invited all of our friends, and asked everyone to bring canned food as the entry fee. This show was awesome not only because we were actually playing IN FRONT of people, but also because we got a bunch of canned food donations! This show is where I discovered I could sing in front of people, and where we as a band decided we not only wanted to make music, but also help our community.

Major Taylor Show

This show at Major Taylor Skate Park is probably the event I am most proud of, because I was the one who organized it. Armando's idea of encouraging people to donate food as an entry fee to a show inspired me, and I wanted to collect more for people in need. I contacted bands that I had seen or played with and asked them to be a part of the show. I contacted friends who made art, and a local political art and activist group called Sly Badges Info Shop and asked them to sell their work at the event. I contacted an organization I had volunteered with called Girls Rock! Indianapolis and asked if we could use their PA system and soundboard. They said yes. I researched what kind of power supply we would need, and ended up renting a generator. I advertised, organized, and in the end it all paid off. The performances were amazing, and the turnout was more than I ever expected. At the end of the night, we had so many bags of clothes and personal hygiene products to donate it filled two large vans. We donated everything to the Wheeler Mission shelters downtown. This event is definetly one of my proudest accomplishments.

Abortion Access Show

This show was mainly organized by Armando and our friend Brady, who organizes a lot of DIY hardcore shows in Indianapolis. The show took place at a local venue called Healer, and was organized following the overturn of Roe vs Wade. All of the admission fees were donated to the ACLU. The show was packed, and I feel as if this was one of my best performances. We ended up raising over 2,000 dollars.

Square Cat Vinyl

We played this show at Square Cat Vinyl with one of the first punk bands I ever saw perform, the Anti-Feds. When they reached out and asked us to play a show with them, I couldn't believe it. Our sound was loud and aggressive (to the point where the audio in these videos are constantly peaking) and our performance was filled with energy.

boygirlblue birthday show

This show was actually a birthday show for a friend of my band mates named Steven. It took place in Steven's GIANT garage in Bloomington. Although the vocals were pretty buried during our performance (a common issue at DIY shows), The instruments sounded REALLY good, and I felt as if my physical performance was very good as well. It was a super fun show because we were playing with bands we knew very well, and got to experience the Bloomington scene.
